WhatsApp Web Data Extraction Tool
Project Abstract
The WhatsApp Web Data Extraction tool is intended for use by professional teams such as Digital Forensics and Law Enforcement who would use the tool in a way of gathering evidence from potential misconduct under a proper documented procedure. Also, with providing a user collection version that implements privacy measures such as data anonymisation to protect the contacts information.Utilising methods of web scraping with web automation bots, then data retrieval through parsing HTML data into Java objects where the data can easily be transferred to a MySQL connected database, allowing the user to use SQL statements to analyse specific parts of data they wish to see.The study challenged me to learn a lot about structures of websites so that I could fully automate the Web Bot to navigate WhatsApp Web website, utilising API’s to piece together a full program that could hopefully be in time used by professional teams for efficient data retrieval.
