Dark Pattern Detector

Project Abstract

Dark patterns (Deceptive patterns / Deceptive design) are tricks used in websites and applications that make the user do things they may not have intended to do. An example of a dark pattern referred to as Sneaking is when the user is drawn into a transaction on false pretences, because pertinent information is hidden or delayed from being presented to them. Safeguarding online user interactions by detecting dark patterns on web pages and alerting users to their presence, allowing them to make more informed decisions about their actions and trying to promote a more ethical digital environment. This initiative is not just about countering deceptive tactics; it is about championing transparency, protecting user rights, and advocating for a fair and user-centric online world.
