Web Application for Lab Sign-off and Queue System

Project Abstract

The modern education system focuses more on practical learning, which requires extensive use of labs. However due to the large volume of students enrolled each year, it gets very difficult for the staff to efficiently manage the labs. This project proposes a web application to streamline the process of lab sign-off and helps better communication between students and staff. The aim is to enhance the overall experience for the student by minimizing wait times and allowing them to focus on learning. The application will have features like user authentication, personalized dashboard for student and staff, a request management system which will allow the students to request sign-offs and ask doubts using the comments/messaging system, a queue management system for the staff to prioritize requests based on their convenience and a notification system to keep the users updated with all the changes. Additionally a critical analysis will be conducted to evaluate students experiences with the current system and optimize the application for improved satisfaction and effectiveness. The web application will be built using modern 2 frameworks, with Django(python) being used to create the backend and React for the frontend. The communication between the backend and frontend will be done using REST Api?s and the database used will be MYSQL.
