Voluntary Ambulance Service VAS – Lift Assist
Project Abstract
The UK’s National Health Service (NHS) is facing a crisis, with ambulance services and patient waiting times majorly affected. To address this, the VAS-Lift Assist project is taken up, which aims to expedite the transportation of Category 3 and 4 patients through community volunteerism and technology. The project will create a platform to improve non-emergency patient transportation services by leveraging modern technologies such as Java, Node.js, React.js, MySQL, and most importantly H3 algorithm. The VAS-Lift Assist project takes the approach to address the wait time challenges within the NHS ambulance services. By streamlining the process of connecting non-emergency patients with nearby volunteers willing to provide transportation assistance, the project aims to reduce wait times and enhance patient access to timely medical care. The research methodology includes in-depth analysis of NHS ambulance service challenges, agile software development methodologies, and robust technology integration. The project’s main findings bring in the joint effort of community volunteerism and technological innovation in improving non-emergency patient transportation services. Key insights include the importance of user-friendly design, efficient dispatching mechanisms, and the potential for significant reductions in patient wait times. Overall, the VAS-Lift Assist project provides a significant contribution to address the crisis within the NHS ambulance services. By harnessing the power of community volunteerism and modern technology, the project aims to improve patient outcomes, reduce strain on the already overburdened UK healthcare system. The project is an example of how innovative solutions combining technology and community involvement can play an important role in enhancing the efficiency and accessibility of healthcare services, ultimately leading to better patient experiences and outcomes.
