A Web Application to Recommend Plants Based on the Weather Forecast for a Given Location

Project Abstract

The United Kingdom is well-known for having unpredictable weather all year round and with gardening becoming a growing hobby in post-pandemic Britain, there is scope for a computerised solution to assist gardeners when dealing with the effects differing weather conditions can have on their plants. This is why a web application designed to recommend plants for the user to look for based on weather forecasts for the user?s given location is the perfect solution. The web application is written using Python supported by the Django web framework to recommend garden plants based on reliable weather forecasts from OpenWeather for the user’s given location. Alongside the easy-to-use interface, features including a favourite plants list and a favourite location help to provide a positive user experience.
