Chatbot Web Application to Answer Swansea University FAQs

Project Abstract

This project presents the planning, development, and implementation of a full-stack rule-based chatbot web-application for Swansea University incorporating natural language processing (NLP), AI, and anthropomorphic techniques. The goals of the artificial assistant include interpreting user input/query, categorising the query to a specific FAQ and resolving the query through providing the correct information. There is an emphasis placed on compliance with the chatbot and its effectiveness in this regard was examined empirically through interviews and questionnaires with participants associated with Swansea University in any way (Student, Parent, Staff, etc). The results of this project shows the effectiveness of anthropomorphic features and web-application design practices in garnering the compliance of a user base when communicating with a chatbot. With further work, it may used by Swansea University to improve the customer service experience.
