Intelligent Robotics: A Mobile Robot for People Assistance

Project Abstract

The main motivation behind this project is to enhance search and rescue operations efficiently and effectively so that people who are in danger or missing can be rescued in time. We are developing a smart search and rescue drone to enhance the capabilities of the rescue team to locate those people who are missing. Furthermore, this project helps me gain more knowledge in the field of AI, especially in those computer vision libraries that we use and various other machine learning techniques. The main aims of the project are:To enhance the safety of both rescuers and missing individuals.To implement face detection feature into the drone so that it can identify the person accurately and to follow the movements of that person.To save time of the rescuers so that if the missing individual is hurt or in some dangerous situation, immediate assistance can be provided.To eliminate the need for manpower in search and rescue operations.The study uses DJI Tello as the drone and python will be the language used. Also, YOLO will be used for implementing face detection and the library Djitellopy library to establidh communication within the drone. With successful completion of the project, the drone will be able to find a missing person through face detection and follow that person around.
