Financial Computing in the 17th and 18th Century

Project Abstract

The 17th and 18th centuries were both massively influential for the rise of Financial Computing. My project will be focusing on the development of insurance in regard to property, business and life insurance. I will also be focusing on mechanical computing and how it developed from a slide rule to mechanical calculators. This project will also focus on economic stratergies that were used over this 200 year period and why they had such an impact on society today. This will all be achieved by looking at the great minds that were involved in the advancements and creations that aided in the developments of Financial Computing. Many of the devices and stratergies used and created have scultped the 21st century in ways many people do not realise. The impact of this project is to develop a new understanding of what was created during the 17th and 18th centuries and whether they created an impact on society and modern day computing.
