Evolving Artificial Life

Project Abstract

Evolutionary simulation is a subset of computer simulation that focuses on evolutionary processes, there are different ways to go about this sort of simulation such as deterministic mathematical modelling and there are also complex agent based systems. I chose to go for an agent based approach myself as I consider this approach the best to go for when handling evolutionary processes. The simulation should allow for competition over food, sexual selection decided by an individual’s fitness, and that the genetic information of a child should be a mix of both parents plus the chance of a mutation. For my project I have created my own evolutionary simulator as a research tool, there are many other evolutionary simulators and I don’t think my own is exceptional but it is already working software which I can make improvements upon in the future if I feel the need to continue the project.
