Pain Tracking App for Fibromyalgia

Photo

Project Abstract

Fibromyalgia (FMS) is a non-curable medical condition known to cause a combination of symptoms of widespread musculoskeletal pain, insomnia leading to fatigue, cognitive dysfunction, depression, and anxiety. It effects hundreds of millions of people world-wide. One of these people is my mother. When I started doing research and trying to find resources for her, I was sadly not able to find much, and what I did find was very general. I wanted to change this, and build an app catered especially for people with this condition’s needs, highlighting resources that will help them through their daily life. I used Android Studio and Kotlin to build this app, harnessing external APIs to gather the resources described above, as well as using an Agile Scrum approach to develop my project. I have now produced an app, taking significant research on the condition into account. A big focus was the symptom tracking feature and to uniquely spin tracking symptoms into something positive. I believe I have created something unique which was needed for the millions of sufferers of this condition
