Cryptography Teaching Tool

Project Abstract

Nowadays Cryptographic failures or sensitive data exposure ranked as the second most common security risks according to the OWASP (Open Web Application Security Project) Top 10. Cryptography plays a crucial role for maintaining data confidentiality and privacy, therefore, learning about the cryptography concept is crucial to comprehending its limitations and enhancing its application. The abstract nature of cryptography concepts makes them difficult to teach and learn using traditional method. Therefore, the goal of this project is to develop an interactive teaching tool that makes the learning of cryptography concepts simpler, interactive, and engaging for students. Development of this engaging, interactive educational tool that will be easy to use and has a clear explanation of different cryptography algorithms and mathematics behind them. In this tool, the students not only learn the theory behind the algorithms but also, they can understand the actual workings of the algorithms by entering the values of their choice to get the desired output along with a comprehensive, step-by-step solution. This tool aims to teach cryptography concepts to elementary school children, high school students, and students who have taken a cryptography module or those who are in their foundation year. Briefly, this tool provides an innovative way of teaching cryptography algorithms by utilizing interactive learning experiences to make difficult topics of cryptography more understandable. It offers instructors and students a useful tool that could change the way of learning cryptography.
