Implementation of Infrastructure as Code and Infrastructure Protection Using AWS: Leveraging the IaaS Model

Project Abstract

The project is focused on the implementation of Infrastructure as code (IaC) for Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to provision their storage, network, and server resources more quickly in the AWS cloud, with the help of Azure deployment to deploy IaC. Additionally, setting proper infrastructure security measures can help SMEs to secure their data. Using the cloud for organizations reduces costs, which is a major boost compared to the On-Premises setup. However, with cloud IaC and Infrastructure security, many other factors are achieved that can assist SMEs in designing, automating, and securing infrastructure. Manual AWS resource and automated AWS resource provision are performed and results are compared for a website hosting architecture. IaC and Azure DevOps are the methodologies used here to deploy the cloud infrastructure for the Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) model. Through the use of IaC and DevOps, SME benefits are addressed in terms of cost, time, frequent infrastructure upgrades and many other factors. To create IaC few requirements are necessary such as network design, CI/CD Pipeline, and terraform (IaC) template and terraform template structuring.
